What do you want to be when you grow up?

dreaming-boy1 This was a question that I always hated as a teenager.

Everyone expected us to be able to answer as we were getting closer to being Grown Up, we couldn’t wait for it either.

I did not know the specific answer to that question but, I did know of some things that were valuable to me.

  • I did know I wanted a family with lots of love and happiness.
  • I also wanted good friends.
  • I wanted to have fun and laugh a lot.
  • I dreamed of having my own business; I had no idea of what it was going to be, but, that did not matter.
  • I wanted to have lots of experiences; I did not want to miss out.

When I review this list (not complete) I feel I have them in my life. Sure, not all the time every day, but overall, they are a big part of my life.

These items are not just something that happens, luck or karma. These are items that we have to work for. If you give them a level of importance and you prioritize your efforts will pay off.

For me I have to dedicate time:

  • Doing things together as a family
  • Getting together with friends
  • Realize what is fun and doing it
  • Work at being smart and working on my business
  • Actually take the opportunities that present themselves.

Make your own list, evaluate it and prioritize it. Don’t let work rule your whole life, take some control and learn to enjoy the finer things in life – You can’t buy them with money.

And after all that… I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up!!!
